About Ipamorelin

Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide, H-Aib-His-D-2-Nal-D-Phe-Lys-NH2, and a GHS-R1a ligand. Three of its five residues are non-standard. Aib (α-aminoisobutyric acid) has two methyl groups on its α-carbon and no stereocentre; D-2-Nal is 3-(2-naphthyl)-D-alanine, which carries a naphthalene ring; and D-Phe is the D-enantiomer of phenylalanine. The C-terminal lysine ends in an amide.

The catalogue lists CAS number 170851-70-4, the molecular formula C38H49N9O5 and a molecular weight of 711.85 g/mol. The naphthyl and phenyl rings absorb strongly in the ultraviolet, which suits HPLC detection. A diastereomer with an L-residue in place of a D-residue has exactly the same mass, so chromatography rather than mass spectrometry is what separates the two. Each presentation is supplied as a lyophilised powder in a sealed vial.
