What drives the MOTS-c price
MOTS-c is a sixteen-residue linear peptide, Met-Arg-Trp-Gln-Glu-Met-Gly-Tyr-Ile-Phe-Tyr-Pro-Arg-Lys-Leu-Arg, with the formula C101H152N28O22S2. Its cost profile is mid-length synthesis with a handling premium: two methionines and a tryptophan are prone to oxidation during cleavage, so the process uses scavengers in the cleavage cocktail and the HPLC method has to resolve oxidised variants from the target. Three arginines add bulky side-chain protection that slows couplings. None of this is exotic chemistry, which is why MOTS-c is widely listed in the UK and competitively priced. The market has two clear presentations, 10 mg and 40 mg, and the 40 mg band costs markedly less per mg; at that size the vial overhead is spread across four times the material. For anyone pricing a larger quantity, the 40 mg vial is the figure to watch, and the 10 mg band median is the fair reference for a single small vial.
